Ms. New York, Virginia Werner CONGRATULATIONS to VIRGINIA WERNER, MS. NEW YORK Senior America 2013! And Special Thanks to Marleen Schuss New York State Director, and State Coordinator Bob Geltman, and to the New York Cameo Club for another successful pageant and year.

Virginia Werner, a young 65 year old, is married and lives with her husband in Bellerose, Queens, New York. She grew up on Long Island and graduated from Mineola High School in 1966. As an office manager for both large and small companies she has worked in various industries including import/export and the garment industry.

Ginnie's varied interests include vintage cars (she drives a 1966 mustang), travel and sailing, and she shares her husband's interest in model trains. She began studying Middle Eastern Dance in 1980 and has been performing and teaching the art since 1982. As a member of Serena Wilson Dance Theatre, Anahid Sofian Dance Company and Matteo Vittucci's "Castanets in Concert" group she has performed at Lincoln Center, Town Hall, Cleveland Museum of Art, Alica Tully Hall, the American Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. She has performed in Egypt as well as Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Ginnie was honored by newsday in January 2003 as an "Everyday Hero" for her years as Associate Director of her volunteer dance company "Mystical Motion Dancers." Over a period of 25 years the troupe gave hundreds of performances in venues including recreational therapy divisions at Rusk Institute (NYU Medical Center), Mount Sinai Hospital (Manhattan), Memorial Sloan Kettering, VA hospitals and many nursing homes and senior citizen centers. She choreographed and designed and executed costumes for many of the dances in Mystical Motion's repertoire.

As Ms. New York Senior America 2013, Ginnie looks forward to meeting many new people, promoting the Senior America organization and performing with the Cameo Club in its volunteer showcases. She says "You CAN make it a better day for someone else."
